Hollow Knight: Silksong is home to multiple bosses, some of which you might get a glimpse of before you fight them; this includes the Fourth Chorus. This enormous robot is found hanging out in Silksong's Far Fields blending into the background, but after making some progress in the area, you’ll soon find the Fourth Chorus is geared up for a fight.

To help you with taking down the Fourth Chorus and continuing your exploration of Far Fields and beyond, here’s our Silksong Fourth Chorus boss guide.

To kick off the fight against Fourth Chorus – if you haven’t already – you’ll want to go and chat with Silksong’s Seamstress in her tent in Far Fields.

She’ll task you with collecting 25 Spine Cores to upgrade Hornet’s Cloak into the Drifter’s Cloak, allowing you to glide around the map and use the updrafts in Far Fields and beyond. This is what then triggers the Fourth Chorus to appear in the room to the left of the Seamstress’ Tent.

Your path out of here and back to Bone Bottom, or into the following area of Greymoor, will be blocked until the Fourth Chorus is defeated. Fortunately, he has a very simple moveset to learn and avoid, and shouldn’t take you too long to beat. Don’t be like me and spend two hours here; remember you can pause and take a breather if need be. This, fortunately, is not Dark Souls!

Fourth Chorus has a few simple moves to be aware of and avoid in Hollow Knight: Silksong. These are as follows:

  • Hand Swipe: Fourth Chorus will move his hand to either side of the arena and then swipe it across to the other side. Use your new Drifter’s Cloak to jump and hover over this attack, or you can dash to the opposite side of it.
  • Hand Smash: Fourth Chorus raises his hand and then smashes it down to the floor, removing two segments of flooring. Carefully look for where his hand is going and avoid that segment of flooring, then be careful to jump over the missing flooring when moving around the arena. These segments return when Fourth Chorus uses his Hand Swipe attack.
  • Falling Lava: After stunning Fourth Chorus once, he will raise his hands and unleash a roar that causes multiple balls of lava to fall from the sky. Carefully avoid these and be careful of his other attacks; he can continue to swipe and smash while the lava is falling, so keep an eye on his hands as well as the lava balls.

As you can see, there’s fortunately just three attacks to memorise. Avoiding them is no problem for the most part but things can get a little troublesome once Fourth Chorus begins attacking while the lava is falling; it can be easy to focus on the balls of lava and not notice him gearing up for an attack. Be aware of this!

A good rule of thumb is to stick to the middle of the boss room where possible and attack upwards while jumping; this allows you to land multiple hits on Fourth Chorus’ head. Similarly, when he uses his Hand Swipe attacks, his head will hover on the side of the arena where the attack concludes; this is a good opportunity to get some attacks in or use your Silkspear Skill on him.

During the fight, Fourth Chorus can be stunned three times. This is when his head falls to the floor and you’re given a free window to attack him; use this to build up your Silk and save that for either Binding or using Silkspear.

After stunning Fourth Chorus a third time, the flooring of the arena becomes slightly narrower and two updrafts appear on either side of the arena. You now have two options. The first, and easiest, is to use the updrafts to attack the two molten rocks on the ceiling. This will cause the rocks to fall on the Fourth Chorus’ head and conclude the fight.

Alternatively, if you’re not too confident with gliding and attacking the rocks, you can continue to attack the Fourth Chorus’ head in between his attacks as you have been for the whole fight. Sooner or later, he’ll be dead.
