The Cling Grip Skill in Hollow Knight: Silksong gives Hornet the ability to double jump on walls, meaning she can traverse some previously unexplored areas and essentially climb vertical walls with ease. Found in Silksong’s Shellwood region, Cling Grip is a Skill you want to try and get your hands on as soon as possible.

To make sure you don’t miss out on this wall-jumping ability, here’s how to get double jump in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

How to get double jump in Silksong

The Cling Grip Skill, also known as the ability to walljump, is located in the region of Shellwood in Silksong. This is the area just beyond Bellhart, which is ultimately accessible after progressing past Greymoor by defeating – or skipping – the Moorwing boss.

Upon arriving in Bellhart, collect the Bench and unlock the Bellway Station on your right if you have enough Rosaries to spare. Once that’s done, exit Bellhart via the left to reach Shellwood.

In the following room, head to the far left. There’ll be a locked door here. You want to instead traverse up the room towards the far left-hand corner. Upon exiting this room by the top-left corner, you’ll see a sign pointing upwards to a Bench but we can’t reach there just yet.

Instead, you’ll need to jump down and complete a gauntlet against some of Shellwood’s mobs. This one isn’t too troublesome, fortunately. Once it’s done, go to the left of the room and platform upwards – past the exit – to find a Bench you can unlock using 80 Rosaries.

Exit this room to the left after resting and you’ll come to an elevator. Ride this elevator the whole way down and keep left upon exiting.

Exit the elevator and head left into the next room, where you’ll need to pogo across some flowerbuds to reach the other side of the room.

Once in the next room, you’ll see that you’ll now need to pogo upwards using more flowerbuds (pictured below). If you want a closer Bench to this area, proceed left through the next room to reach one that costs 60 Rosaries to unlock.

Once you reach the top, you’re in the room containing Clip Grip; you just happen to be at the bottom of it right now. Head right into a new room (or head left to unlock the Bellway for this area using 60 Rosaries if you haven't already).

In the following room, go right and exit. You will then need to platform upwards, avoiding the flowerbud enemies.

After reaching the top, exit the room to your right. Swim across the river in the next room and use the platforms at the end of the room to go upwards, then left. You’re unfortunately going to come to more flowerbuds that you need to pogo off of (pictured below), taking caution of the spikes below; keep going left.

If you die here, the elevator beside the Bench we activated earlier will now be working. You can use this to quickly reach this area again.

After pogoing across the above flowerbuds, keep left to eventually come to a fight against Sister Splinter. If you need some help taking her down, take a look at our Sister Splinter boss strategy guide.

Upon defeating her, exit to the left of her boss arena (but make a note to come back here later to meet Nuu again).

In this next area, you want to make your way to the top-left corner of the room, then go back on yourself to ultimately reach the very top of the room (shown on the map below).

Going this way means maneuvring past some troubling Gahlia enemies. These are a good opportunity to practice your pogoing, as you can repeatedly bounce off of their heads to kill them. Alternatively, Silkspear takes them out quickly.

Following the first Gahlia (pictured above), jump down and to your left. You’ll reach two more Gahlia’s and another flowerbud to pogo off of above some spikes; do this to reach the platform above you.

Once you reach the platform above, jump to your right. There’ll be another Gahlia above you as well as two flowerbuds to pogo off of on your left; you want to jump on these flowerbuds to reach the room’s exit.

In the next room, there’s more Gahlia enemies and they’re in much more damning positions, so you’ll want to clear them out wherever possible. You can jump past the first one in this room and into the water to avoid them entirely if you wish though.

Keep left in this room. Attack the upcoming wall to proceed; you’ll find yourself in a small room with more flowerbuds to pogo off of, as well as Gahlia enemies and a Phacia enemy.

Pogo off the first flowerbud to reach the left-hand side of the room. Go upwards, killing the Gahlias along the way, and then pogo off the second flowerbud to reach a ledge on the right-hand side of the room.

Exit the room to your right, avoiding even more Gahlia enemies, and just up ahead is the altar you need to Bind with to retrieve the Cling Grip Skill at last.

The Cling Grip Skill essentially allows you to double jump on walls and wall-jump, making traversal much more forgiving and now allowing you to access some previously inaccessible areas.
