Zen Update and Plants in Grow a Garden

Including the Zen Aura event and how to get Chi.

The Zen update in Grow a Garden is focused on growing the Zen Tree by harvesting and selling Tranquil plants to the Zen Channeller.

Doing so will give you the chance to earn new items, including the Zen Egg, which includes new pets. Just remember, to get Chi, you can also buy it with Robux from the Zen Shop. This update also marks the official release of multiple save slots and the return of pet trading.

So let's take a look at the Zen update in Grow a Garden.

On this page:

Zen Aura event explained

The Zen Aura is a weather event that occurs at the beginning of every hour on the hour and lasts for 10 minutes. You'll know it's active because an icon for the event will appear in the bottom right-hand corner.

During this time, fruit in your garden will gain the Tranquil mutation. While these fruits are selected randomly, you can get an idea on which one has been chosen by following the blue light emitted from the Zen Channeller as it travels to your garden.

The Tranquil mutation gives plants a mist-like aura and you should be able to see Kanji symbols appearing around them. You may also find that Tranquil plants have a slightly lighter colour.

How to use Trnaquil Plants

You now have two choices on how to use your Tranquil fruit. You can either use them to:

  • Grow the Zen Tree
  • Trade them for Chi to spend at the Zen Shop

We recommend focusing on growing the Zen Tree.

How to grow the Zen Tree

To grow the Zen Tree, you'll need to hand over your Tranquil plants to the Zen Channeller that can be found in the middle of the map. Each time you hand them over, you'll progress towards growing the Zen Tree, and at each stage you'll unlock new items that can be bought from the Zen Shop. There are seven stages in total.

All Zen Tree stages

The Zen Tree has seven stages, each requiring Zen to unlock:

Zen Tree Stage Zen Required
Stage 1 40 Zen
Stage 2 60 Zen
Stage 3 90 Zen
Stage 4 130 Zen
Stage 5 180 Zen
Stage 6 245 Zen
Stage 7 325 Zen

The Rarity of each Tranquil Plant affects the amount of Zen you'll contribute towards growing the Zen tree. This is as follows:

Rarity Zen Points
Common 1
Uncommon 2
Rare 3
Legendary 4
Mythical 5
Divine 6
Prismatic 7
Transcendent 8

How to get Chi

To get Chi in Grow a Garden, you need to give plants with the Tranquil mutation to the tanuki running the Zen Shop. To do so, talk to the tanuki and select either 'Take this plant' if you're holding one or 'Take all my Tanquil plants', which removes all of them from your inventory. (Not your garden though - you'll need to collect them first.)

The amount of Chi you receive will depend on the rarity of the plant, so if you're after a lot of Chi quickly, best to exchange those rarer plants. You can see how much Chi you've currently collected by looking in the bottom left-hand corner when standing in the Zen event area.

Multiple save slots

It's now possible to have multiple save slots in Grow a Garden. Though released slightly before the Zen update, I still thought it was worth a quick mention here!

You can access your save slots by interacting with the mail box sitting outside of your garden. Keep in mind, however, that an additional save slot will cost you 25 billion Sheckles or 399 Robux. If you can afford a save slot, then this post box is where you'll switch between them.
