You'll need to be quick to get this brilliant Intel Core i5-14400F Amazon deal

A mid-ranger for budget money.

Intel's Core i5-14400F remains a brilliant budget CPU with its 10 cores and 16 threads that makes a fantastic competitor to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 that we've focused a lot on in recent times. When the time's right, this Intel chip can represent some serious value for money, and it just so happens that now is one of those times.

If you've been after a drop-in upgrade for your 12th or 13th gen chips, or a means of getting the basis of a potent mid-range system for cheap, this Amazon deal that brings this processor down to just £105 should be right up your alley - is technically £1.60 odd more expensive than it was for Prime Day, but this is still a great deal. At the time of writing, this limited-time deal is 56 percent claimed, so you might have to move fast to get it.

In real terms, the 14400F was more of an iterative upgrade over its predecessor, the 13400F, coming with the same 10 cores and 16 threads, with the cores split between 6 Performance and 4 Efficiency cores. If you're moving from an older 12400F, you'll get the benefit of four more cores and threads, and a slightly higher boost clock, arguably making this chip better-suited to multi-threaded workloads as a drop-in upgrade as they're on the same socket, although that is as far as you'll be able to go as the newer Core Ultra chips need a new motherboard. As an -F suffixed chip, you will need to provide it with a discrete GPU, as it lacks the on-board graphics of the standard 14400 that'll cost you a little more at £154.

With this in mind, the 14400F is arguably between the 5600 and 7600 in terms of benchmarks and performance according to reviews and testing elsewhere, meaning it's a capable chip for the price that's going to do you well in a variety of modern games. The fact that the 14400F has the option of supporting DDR4 or DDR5 is handy, depending on if you're going for a pure value build or if you want to future-proof a smidgen. In addition, there is also support for PCIe 5.0 with this chip, so you can benefit from especially brisk storage when that gets to more palatable prices.

If you want to grab an Intel CPU with solid performance for an excellent price, this fantastic deal on the Core i5-14400F from Amazon is not to be missed.
