Switch 2 release date
Including price and pre-order details for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 is looming on the horizon, so now's the time to prepare your pre-order and launch day plans.
With Mario Kart World and a lot of third party titles launching alongside the Switch 2, it's shaping up to be an interesting console launch. We even have Welcome Tour, which ticks the classic 'Nintendo gimmick' box for a launch title.
To help you plan ahead, we've detailed the exact Switch 2 release date below, along with additional info on the price, pre-order, launch games, and the games coming beyond launch.
On this page:
Switch 2 release date
The Switch 2 release date is 5th June, 2025. If following Nintendo tradition, this should be the same global release date for all. So no matter where you live and what timezone you're in, the Switch 2 is releasing on the 5th June for everybody. As long as the Switch 2 is launching in your country during this first wave, that is.

Price
The Switch 2 on its own costs £395.99/$449.99, but there is also a Switch 2 console and game bundle (with Mario Kart World) that costs £429.99/$499.99 These prices are taken from the official Nintendo Store, so there might be some slight differences if you're buying a Switch 2 elsewhere, but not by much.
Box contents
All Switch 2 consoles come with:
- Nintendo Switch 2 console (with 256 GB of storage)
- Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R)
- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
- USB-C Charging Cable
And of course, if you purchased the Mario Kart World game bundle, its download code will be included in the box alongside everything else.
Pre-order
You can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 from 8th April, 2025 from the Nintendo Store, but it will initially be offered on an invite-only basis to selected Nintendo Switch Online members.
The criteria for who gets selected first prioritises longtime Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, amongst other factors like game playtime and whether you've opted into receiving promotional emails.

Colours/Editions
We only know of the blue and red Switch 2 edition coming at launch so far.
Remember, these editions only change the colour of the Joy-Con controller accents - the actual colour of the Switch 2 console is black. The Joy-Cons are almost entirely black as well, with only the colour under the thumbstick and side connection to the console changing depending on what edition you have.
