Where to get the Tempestuous mutation and what is it.

Tempestuous mutations have shown up in the last day or so in Grow a Garden, but there's actually very little information on the source of this mutation's origin.

However, through some theorising amongst the community, there is some sort of idea as to where this crop mutation may have originated.

To get into all the theories, let's discuss what the Tempestuous mutation is, and where to get the Tempestuous mutation.

How to get Tempestuous mutation in Grow a Garden

As it stands, there is no definitive answer as to where the Tempestuous mutation actually comes from, but there are a few working theories gong around the community.

Since the word itself has relation to stormy weather - so thunder, lightning, volatile etc. - the implication is that this mutation could be some sort of combination of several other mutations.

The conclusion that our sister site, IGN came to was that the specific combination might be related to Windstruck and Twisted mutations. In the event this occurs, this is what seems like it could lead to the Tempestuous mutation.

Specifically, this is due to the fact that - going by various examples - neither of those two mutations are present. That said, it's worth noting there are examples where Twisted and Windstruck are present on the same plant but no Tempestuous, and so perhaps it's not a guarantee. It seems plausible considering there is a larger and wider set of mutation combos slowly rising across the game.

This is an example of a couple of Tempestuous plants I found in another player's farms - as you can see in the right image, they have a very faint, sort of pixelated shock effect across them. | Image credit: Eurogamer/The Garden Game

An idea I had was if it has something to do with Sandstorm weather events and the Sandy mutation as I've noticed a lot more of those weather events occuring lately. Being that it's stormy and the pixelated effect could be implying some sort of sandstorm-like effect, that's another thing perhaps keeping an eye on.

It's all still up in the air though ultimately, and it may have something to do with the Wet or Drenched mutations, but this is all speculation. As it stands though, there is no definitive answer, but we'll be sure to update this page should that change!

If you're lucky enough, be sure to hold onto any Tempestuous plants you may have, or experiment and see what benefits you might get when selling them!

Good luck on your hunt for Tempestuous!
