How to get Keldeo in Pokémon Go

Keldeo, one of the Mythical Pokémon from Gen 5, has finally made its free-to-play release in Pokémon Go during the Tales of Transformation season.

Pokémon Go players have been waiting a long time for Keldeo's free-to-play release. (Seriously - it's nearly been three years.) So it's great to see this little unicorn make a proper return to the game and to soon have the ability to use its Resolute Form.

So let's take a look at how to get Keldeo in Pokémon Go, along with everything we know about Keldeo's Resolute Form.

How to get Keldeo in Pokémon Go

Keldeo made its free-to-play debut in September 2025 at the beginning of the Tales of Transformation season.

Here's how to get Keldeo in Pokémon Go:

  • Tales of Transformation Special Research quest - Complete Step 1

Luckily, this is quite the easy quest step to complete so you should have no problems getting Keldeo! Just make sure you've unlocked Tales of Transformation before the quest becomes unavailable in December.

What is important to note, however, is that Keldeo was originally released via the pay-to-play Something Extraordinary Special Research quest in December 2022. If you've obtained Keldeo from this quest, you can not get a second Keldeo. Instead, you'll receive additional Keldeo Candy from Tales of Transformation.

Now you know how to get Keldeo, let's take a look at its Resolute Form…

September in Pokémon Go has started with the new Keldeo seasonal quest! The Pokémon Concierge Celebration Event is currently running. There's also levelling changes coming soon. You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

Keldeo Resolute Form in Pokémon Go explained

At the time of writing, you can not transform Keldeo into its Resolute Form in Pokémon Go. We do know this form will be made available in the coming months though thanks to the Tales of Transformation page on the official Pokémon Go website. I wouldn't be surprised if it arrives towards the end of the season, so November time, but I'll be updating this time when it is released!

Though how Keldeo enters its Resolute Form still remains a mystery, I can make a good guess. Namely that it will be done by spending a certain amount of Keldeo Candy and Stardust much like how Zacian can become Crowned Sword Zacian, for example. The option should also appear on its Pokémon page within the Pokémon storage - most likely beneath the option to power up Keldeo.

We'll have to wait and see whether Resolute Form has a proper impact on Keldeo's stats, but it will give it a more impressive horn and three little feathers in its hair. Interestingly, the colour for each feather matches one of the other members of the Swords of Justice - blue for Cobalion, green for Virizion and brown for Terrakion.
