The Blood Moon event in Grow a Garden is a currently running limited-time event that can happen in-game, affecting your crops and opening up a shop with special items in it.
The Blood Moon event can occur naturally while you're playing Grow a Garden at specific times throughout the day, but unlike other timely weather events, there's only a chance that the Blood Moon will show itself - but we'll go into more detail about that below.

Grow a Garden Blood Moon event explained
The Blood Moon event in Grow a Garden runs alongside the current Lunar event with the Wise Old Owl.
When the weather event 'Nightfall' happens on the hour every real-world hour for ten minutes, there's a chance that the Blood Moon will rise at this time. You'll know if you've encountered a Blood Moon because the dark sky will become tinted red and the usually ethereal moon becomes red too. Also, you'll get a red moon icon appear in the bottom right corner of your screen.
If the Blood Moon rises during 'Nightfall' any of your crops growing in your garden can get the 'Bloodlit' mutation on them - which is this event's variation of the 'Moonlit' mutation. You'll know when your crops have become 'Bloodlit' as you'll get a notification at the top of your screen and the affected fruit will glow red.
Handily, you can still trade in 'Bloodlit' fruit with the Wise Old Owl as it counts as a type of 'Moonlit' fruit for the Lunar event.
Grow a Garden Blood Moon event shop
Also, if the Blood Moon rises while you're in-game then you can visit the special limited-time Blood Moon shop that appears. The shop can be found to the right of the Wise Old Owl in the middle of the area, it will have a red Owl standing on top of a tombstone-like structure.
Now, there are a few things you should know first and one is that the Blood Moon shop is only available for the ten minutes that the Blood Moon is active in-game when it rises. Also, the items contained within the Blood Moon shop are very expensive, for example a crate is 10,000,000 Sheckles, so if you've not got a lot of Sheckles stashed away you might not get anything from there.
